Front-cover wedding portrait of the Grand Duke and Duchess of the Hesse-Darmstadt at Coburg. Princess Victoria Melita was daughter of Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh and a granddaughter of Queen Victoria as well as of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. Her marriage to her paternal first cousin Ernst Ludwig, ended in divorce in 1901.
