Hereditary Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig of Hesse-Darmstadt (1868-1937) with his aunt, Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll (1848-1939) in 1881. Louise was the only one of Queen Victoria's children to have no family of her own, but she was a favourite with her nieces and nephews.
