Collection of the week: A Medici Society Christmas

Founded in 1908, the Medici Society's original aim was to bring artists' work to the appreciation of a wider public with subjects chosen for their artistic value, beauty or sentiment. Over 100 years later, the original artwork is as captivating as ever, and the vast range of Christmas images just as magical and inspiring.

From the delicacy of watercolour and the skilful economy of screen prints to the vibrancy of cut-out paper collages and the crispness of calligraphy, the Medici Christmas images come in a wide range of styles and media. Work represented includes Margaret Tarrant's beautifully sensitive portrayals of children and angels, Molly Brett's delightfully festive woodland animals, and Donald Shannon's stunning snowscapes.
