Lord Louis Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma (1900-1979) - Photograph taken in the gardens at Broadlands in Romsey Extra, near the town of Romsey in Hampshire, England. In 1979, Mountbatten was assassinated by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA), who planted a bomb in his fishing boat at Mullaghmore, County Sligo, Ireland
