Alinari Archives in Florence is one of the world's great photographic institutions, and dates back to the founding of the company by the brothers Alinari in 1852. The development of photography and the story of the archive are linked, attested to by the 3.5 million photographs including glass plates, negatives and vintage prints, that the collection holds.
Supplementing Alinari's own material, there is a wealth of history through collections such as the Italian Touring Club, Luce Institute, Rizzoli and Rai TV.
Alinari is a natural partner for Mary Evans. We have the most diverse and comprehensive historical collection in the UK, and it is important that researchers can source such a renowned collection from us. The collection is available for licensing both in the UK and the USA.
