Nikko Stone lantern - Japan

Nikko Stone lantern - Japan - by Yomeimon Gate all the local lords and barons contributed stone and iron lanterns for its embellishment. One noble could not afford the price of a lantern. Instead he planted slips of cryptomeria along the 25 miles of formal approaches to the temple - now the lanterns are hardly noticeable beneath their magnificence
