25 February 1968 - Angry Nongqause Actors Quit, Pay
25 February 1968 - Angry Nongqause Actors Quit, Pay Bad - Euphonia Kata, Florence Mateta and Nombeko Jumba.. we didn't insist on written contracts. A group of top artists who walked out of the star-studded musical play Nongqause claim this week that they were underpaid, and at times they had to live on their wits instead of salaries. But producer Basil Somhlahlo denied their story and accused some of them of being petty minded. Ten actors have pulled out of the show in different groups during its tours round the country in the past year, including the female lead, Anne Gxasheka, belly dancer Laura Yako and top billed Malombo Jazz Makers.
