AFRICA, ZANZIBAR - One of the many trades on the Island
AFRICA, ZANZIBAR - One of the many trades on the Island is reliant on the supplies sent by the sea. Men and women scour the beaches and shallow waters, when the tide is out, in search of sea weed. Government allotted land is set aside in order to harvest the sea weed. When it has been collected and dried, the sea weed is exported and used in medicines, cosmetics, and for the preservation of foods and beers.(Photo by Africa24 Media/camerapix/Mohamed Amin/Duncan Willetts)
