August 1963 What Really Happened Flanked by faithful followers, on July6, 1963 Nkomo denounced the 11 leaders who had broken away from ZANU. Mr Nkomo gave DRUM his version of the revolt. It was dirty plot, youve no idea how dirty, but I forced them. I denounced them when they thought I knew nothing. In dares Salaam we were all friends, or so I thought. There was no argument.
