Bush of Ghosts - Life and War in Namibia 1986-1990
Bush of Ghosts - Life and War in Namibia 1986-1990 - Parachute jump over Windhoek to commemorate Cassinga. Parabats attached to the South West Africa Special Forces (SWASPES ) unit of the SWATF jump with veterans of 1 and 44 Parachute Brigade over the city of Windhoek from Eros Airport in 1985, in commemoration of the airborne attack on Cassinga and Vietnam camps that took place on 4 May 1978. Cassinga was a SWAPO camp in southern Angola, whose status as a military as opposed to a civilian camp continues to be maintained by those in command of the South African attack during Operation Reindeer, despite much evidence to the contrary. The day is still unofficially commemorated in South Africa at Tempe Air Force Base in Bloemfontein
