Bush of Ghosts - Life and War in Namibia 1986-1990 - Conscripts report for National Service, Eros Airport, Windhoek. January 1989. The final intake of conscripted soldiers into the South West Africa Territorial Force ( SWATF ) at Eros Airport, Windhoek in January 1989. The intake was a mixed group of white soldiers who were conscripted and black soldiers who volunteered. After medical and other examinations they were graded as G1, G2, or G3. The men were then driven to nearby Luiperdsvallei base for the first three months of basic military training, and then placed in different units for more advanced training
