Bush of Ghosts - Life and War in Namibia 1986-1990 - East German Border Guards arriving as part of United Nations forces, Windhoek. March 1989. UNTAG included numerous different national contingents who contributed both military and civil support, including police and observers. The us and the Soviet Union provided initial air transport. In total 71 14 people took part in the UNTAG mission, whose objective was to create an environment for free and fair elections
