December 1958 The Magic Piper Six Months ago, when we printed a picture of Spokes Mashiane, he was just one of the Reef's pennywhistlers, little known outside. Today, he's known in may lands, and his records are as likey to be sold out in London and New York as they are in any of the towns in of the Union. Spokes started by playing at the street corners.
