February 1956 Talk O'The Rand Miriam Makeba. Great Demand. Miriam the Nightingale who has come to grace the commpany of the Manhattan Brothers with her golden voice, is in great demand, greater demand than is good for her. The other day during the Manhattan Brothers Anniversary show at the Bantu Men's Center, thugs of all description, delegates from all Johannesburg's dens, were at each other's throats to take her away.
