Grahamstown: Thursford House
Grahamstown: Thursford House. View taken by Dr. W. G. Atherstone of his residence, Thursford House, on the site of the current Glennie Hall, Victoria Primary School. It was in this garden that Dr. Atherstone received the parcel containing the stone which he identified as the first diamond to be discovered in South Africa. The garden contains indigenous plants in a well-laid-out plan. Dr. Atherstone was one of the founders of the Botanical Gardens in Grahamstown
