South Africa, Port Elizabeth. 1993 : Initiates for traditional Xhosa initiation into manhood, involving circumcision. They remain in an area on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth. Their huts are built out of branches and plastic sheets. There have been a large number of deaths in these traditional circumsicions due to badly executed cutting and some organizers use the same blade for all the initiates
