July 1961 - The Kids learn to live -They may be deaf, dumb and blind, but that doesn't mean they can't enjoy a game with a rope as well as the next kid. Rope games play a big part in the life of the school - for all the children. This is the story of courage. Unusual human courage mixed with plain, unmitigated Bad Luck. It's the story of 123 boys and girls, some of them deaf, dumb and blind, all fighting nigh and day to make life better than death. They stay in their boarding school-cum home at Kutlwanong in Roodepoort, less than 20 miles from Johannesburg. Yes, that is the story of Kutlwanong. A thin, kindly woman, Mrs. Mokhudi teaches them.
