July 1975 - The 14 Deaths That Shocked Zambia - The discovery of 14 bodies in shallow graves in the Eastern Province has shocked the whole of Zambia. The corpses were so decomposed that only one, that of Mr John Mataure, the Zanu political commissar, was recognisable. But the identification of Mr. Mataure leaves no doubt that the 14, believed to include two girls were victims of fighting within the ranks of Zanu. (Photograph by Drum Photographer BAHA)
