July 1982 - Barney Pityana one of the founding fathers of Black Consciousness is now living in exile in Britain, studying theology. Barney was also responsible for the formation of the now banned South African Students'Organisation (Saso) and the Black People's Convention. Both were declared unlawful in 1977.
