Longmarket Street in the 1890's

Longmarket Street.The Old Legislative Assembly Buildings and since union, the Provincial Council buildings.These buildings are on the site of the original St.Marys Anglican Chruch( Native). The Foundation stone was laid on 21st June 1887 and the building was opened in 1889. The White marble statue of Victoria, Queen Empress, erected in honour of H.M'S Jubilee was unveiled in 1890
