March 1958 - Gowon Talks To Drum - Africa's Youngest head of state, Major-General Yakubu Gowon, is fighting hard to keep total Nigeria unity. From the Head of state, a frank assessment of Nigeria's many problems. With the creation of twelve new state in the country, General Gowon has produced a plan for the foundation on which a better, fear -free, hate-free Nigeria can be built. All he is asking is support to crush the rebellion in the eastern states. After that, he said, we can all get down to build our edifice.
