Nadine Gordimer - born 1923 Springs, South Africa. A political activist and writer of short stories, essays and novels. A founding memeber of Congress of South African writers. Books include July's People, A Sport of Nature, Get a Life'. Awarded the Booker Prize in 1974 and the Nobel prize for Literature in 1991 amongst many other awards
