The South African government ended eighty-four years of control over the Walvis Bay enclave by handing over the port and twelve offshore islands to the Namibian government. At midnight on 28 February 1994 the long struggle to decolonise all of Namibia's territory finally ended with the ceremonial handover of Walvis Bay and 12 associated guano islands by South Africa. Ken Oosterbroek (born 14/02/63 - died 18/04/94) was an award-winning South African photojournalist and member of The Bang-Bang Club
