October 1961 - War Without Guns - Universal Trading Store in Bancroft, 9 miles from Katanga border, which had been gutted by fire. Thirthy-eight schools in Northern Rhodesia had been burned, 34 of them in the Northern Territory, many churches, houses, huts and shops had been left in ruins, agricultural experimental areas had been blazed. And 1500 Africans had been arrested, 738 had been convicted and more were being rounded up every day. (Photograph by Drum Photographer BAHA)
