POVERTY:February 1965 - Nima - The Story Of A Slum - Lack of drains in common in Nima. New sites will have pre-laid sanitation. Yet, acute housing shortages must be solved, better housing conditions which promote better health will have to be sponsored. But how can these States deal with the two pressing problems of housing and industrialisation, not in fact even taking into account other sources of national expenditure like Education, Health and Services? DRUM takes Nima, the small subrban township on the North-Western fringe of Accra as a typical example of the influx of population accompanied by the rapid growth of a rather unplanned township with its overcrowding and inadequate sanitary facilities.
