September 1975 - Kenyatta Launches Purge Of Kanu Rebels - Kenyatta Addresses Kanu Delegates. He told them that he would dismiss those who failed to toe the government line. President Kenyatta fired former Minister for Works, Mr Masinde Muliro, who has been in the Cabinet for many years, and two former Assistant Ministers, Mr John Keen ( Works) and Peter Kibisu (Labour), because they defied the government directive when they voted for the adoption of the Kariuki murder report and not for an amendment to the motion tabled by the Attorney General, Mr Charles Njonjo.
