September 1982 - Death And Destruction In Futile Rebellion
September 1982 - Death And Destruction In Futile Rebellion - Indians Complained that their shops had been singled out in the looting that followed the attempt to topple the government. The coup attempt of August 1 was poorly organised and short-lived. It lasted only a few hours, achieved little apart from a temporary takeover of the Voice of Kenya, and its leaders never emerged from obscurity. Kenyans were left at loss as to exactly who was behind this reckless attempt to shatter their lives. The rebellion left more than 20 dead and over 800 wounded (according to early estimates) and an economic and psychological toll which may take years to estimate.
