September 22 1963 - Business Is Good! - A sturdy 18-year-old herdboy looked at the pallid Pietersburg sky and grimaced. He looked anxiously at his father's 600-odd cattle and grimaced again, violently. The suddenly he spat out a fierce jet of chewed grass and again looked up at the sky. That was about 30 years ago. Richard Pelwana ('small Heart') Maponya had just made the decision which was to take him away from his father's fields and into the unknown concrete jungle of the Golden City. Richard Maponya, one of the Soweto's foremost businessmen and citizens, prefers ordinary things in life. The owner of a chain of Soweto shops and one of Dube's most elite houses.
