South Africa's only all-black female rugby team from Welkom in the Free State province/ 2001: The Purple Hearts have a motivational word from their coach before a game against the Welkom Police Woman's team. They had one non-white player. The game was played at the Kutloanong stadium in the Kutloanong township, which is part of the town, Odendaalsrus in the Free State mining area.
