The Soweto Uprising, 1976

Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa, 1976. s. A muslim man walks through teargas in the car park outside Regina Mundi Church. This may have been during the Soweto Uprising in 1976 or after one of the Commemoration Rallies held on June 16th in the years following. These often ended in mayhem as the police would give an ultimatum to finish by a certain time and then proceed to use teargas on the crowd. The Soweto Uprising spread across South Africa continuing throughout the year
