A young man (Paulos Mohobane) beaten by vigilantes (Phakathis or A-Team) paid by municipal councillors. The councillors were seen as puppets of the Apartheid regime and were targeted by the youth. Thabong is the township next to Welkom, a thriving mining town. It was severly under-resoured and a rent boycott was in place
