George Birkbeck Norman Hill
George Birkbeck Norman Hill, English editor and author, son of Arthur Hill, headmaster of Bruce Castle school, and nephew of Rowland Hill, postal reformer. Hill himself taught at Bruce Castle school from 1858, and served as headmaster from 1868 until 1877. He wrote regularly for the Saturday Review, and in retirement became a respected commentator on the works of Samuel Johnson
