Sir Maurice Hill

Sir (Edward) Maurice Hill, British judge, involved in the divorce case between Evelyn Laye and Sonnie Hale in 1930, with Jessie Matthews as co-respondent. Hill, who had a low opinion of divorce, commented: aIt is quite clear that the husband admits himself to be a cad, and nobody will quarrel with that, and the woman Matthews writes letters which show her to be a person of an odious mind
