India - Cawnpore The Massacre
Hand coloured. Illustration of a Caucasian woman in a blue dress standing in a room with some kind of awning over it. She is leaning against a gold filigree table with one hand and with the other, shooting an Indian man wearing an East India Company army uniform with a gun. He is reeling backwards with a sword in hand. There are two other seemingly Indian men dead at her feet, wearing white clothes and holding bayonets. Outside the room is a scene of chaos, with both Indian and Caucasian people running around. The Cawnpore Massacre occurred during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.. Part of India Box, Boswell Collection
