Switzerland - Lake of Lucerne, View from the Rigi
Coloured lantern slide of a view across the Lake of Lucerne from Mount Rigi, Queen of the Mountains. In the foreground appears to be a train track, that of the Rigi-Bahnen, which started operation in 1871. It was the first mountain railway in Europe and alongside the Arth-Rigi-Bahn became the first electrified standard gauge rack-railway in the world. Both lines go all the way to the summit, Rigi-Kulm.. Slide number 17 of Box 181 entitled Swiss No.1
