 : The Judgment of Paris

The Judgment of Paris

This oil painting was a design for a mural, and depicts the judgment of Paris, a Greek mythological story whereby Paris, seen in the centre, was made to decide who can have the golden apple, Goddesses Hera, Athena and Aphrodite all claimed that it should be theirs. Hera promised land and riches, Athena promised victory in battle and Aphrodite promised the love of the most beautiful woman in the world. Paris ultimately chose the latter, and fell in love with Helen of Sparta, which lead to the Trojan war
