Lincoln Cathedral
A watercolour painting of Lincoln Cathedral, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the construction of this building began in 1072 and continued in several phases through the high middle ages. Upon completion, the cathedral was claimed to be the tallest building in the world in 1311, a record in which it held until 1548, when the main central spire collapsed
