A portrait oil painting of Maud Murray Dale, wife of stockbroker and art collector, Chester Dale. The artist was commissioned by her to paint her likeness in 1919, but later it was destroyed after she openly criticized it for being a bit vulgar, which led to this piece, which successfully conveyed her powerful personality
