Portrait of Irene Dineley, model in a number of portraits. This sketch, which appears so hasty is really quite delibrate and considered. If we look closely, we can see traces of a pencil foundation and some of the lights appear to have been scratched out of the water-colour with a knife and we have but to examine the eyes to see that the artist can control his brush and pencil to extreme precision when he so desires
