Scottish Women's Hospitals Elsie Inglis

Shows the second unit from the Scottish Women's Hospitals for Foreign Service, prior to their departure from Cardiff in April 1915. They stopped in Malta on 4th May, giving medical assistance at hospitals in Valetta and Bighi. They then travelled on to Serbia on 20th May and were based at Valjevo. Dr. Elsie Inglis, founder of the Scottish Women's Hospitals can be seen just below the large left-hand column. The Chief Medical Officer at Valjevo Camp was Dr. Alice Hutchison who described the send off from Cardiff Docks on the S. S. Ceramic. From the shore came, Are we downhearted?
