Suffragette Rose Lamartine Yates
Portrait photograph of Rose Lamartine Yates (1875-1954). She joined the Wimbledon branch of the W.S.P.U in 1908, becoming its secretary in 1910. She was a close friend of Emily Wilding Davison, visiting her in the Epsom hospital and heading the guard of honour for the funeral procession. Her husband Thomas represented the Davison family family at the inquest into Emily's death after the incident at the Epsom Derby in June 1913. Possibly photographed in the garden of her home, Dorset Hall Merton
