Sydney as Macquarie Left It

This panorama was taken from the Observatory Hill. To the left one is looking towards the Heads and to the right over the City. The building in the foreground on the right was the Military Hospital and is now a part of Fort Street School. The windmill on the extreme right is the site of the Grosvenor Hotel. The row of tall buildings on the skyline is the General Hospital in Macquarie Street. The open space, with sheep and a carriage and four, on the left hand picture, is the grounds of Government House which is seen to the right (this stood on the corner of Bridge and Phillip Streets). Above that is the stables of the new Government House, now remodelled and housing the Conservatorium of Music
