Agora, used as an open meeting area, with copy of a statue of Asclepius, god of medicine and son of Apollo and Coronis, Greek, 2nd century BC, on the remains of the Greek rampart, at Empuries, on the Costa Brava in Catalonia, Spain. The original statue is in the Museu Arqueologic d'Empuries or Empuries Archaeology Museum. Empuries was founded 575 BC by Greeks from Phocaea and occupied by the Romans from 218 BC.
