Room with wall recesses in the Al Alawi House, built in the 1930s by Mahmoud Muhammad al Alawi, a pearl supplies merchant, near the bay in Muharraq, Bahrain. The house is of 2 storeys with a central courtyard and functioning wind tower. Muharraq is a city on the Pearling Path and with a strong history of pearl diving and pearl trade, where 17 buildings form part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrating the pearl trade.
