Altar with painting of Virgin and child, and behind, saints, Byzantine fresco commissioned 1205-16 by Zakarid ruler Ivane I Zakarian, in the east apse of Surb Astvatsatsin or Holy Mother of God Church, built 11th - 13th century at Akhtala monastery, founded late 10th century by the Kiurikid family, at Akhtala, Lori, Armenia.
