Altarpiece, Church of Santa Maria de Cadaques
Baroque altarpiece, 18th century, by Paul Costa, 1665-1727, with central statuette of the Virgin Mary and above, Virgin crowned by St Thomas, co-patron of the town of Cadaques, at the Church of Santa Maria de Cadaques, in Cadaques, Catalonia, Spain. The altarpiece is of gilded and polychrome carved wood and features many cherubs and scenes from the life of the Virgin, to whom the altarpiece is dedicated. The church was built in the 16th century in Late Gothic style and consists of a nave with side chapels, 7-sided apse and a bell tower. Picture by Manuel Cohen
