South West ambulatory with tiled floor and rib-vaulted ceiling, in Orleans Cathedral, or the Basilique Cathedrale Sainte-Croix d'Orleans, built in Gothic style 1278-1329 and largely rebuilt 1601-1829 after it was partially destroyed in 1568, in Orleans, Loiret, Centre, France. Joan of Arc, the defender of Orleans, attended evening Mass in the cathedral on 2nd May 1429 while the city was under siege. The cathedral is listed as a historic monument. Picture by Manuel Cohen
