Altar, 1667, in the apse of Heddal Stave Church or Heddal stavkirke, a medieval wooden long church built c. 1200, at Notodden, Telemark, Norway. On the left is a replica of the Brugde bench with sculptures of Sigurd and Brunhild and carvings of the Norse legend of Gunnar in the snake pit.
