Arena of Nimes, an amphitheatre built c. 100 BC to hold 24, 000 spectators on 34 tiers, in Nimes, Gard, Occitanie, France. The arena was used for gladiator battles during Roman times and became a fortress in medieval times, then was restored in the 19th century. It is listed as a historic monument.
