Lyon Astronomical Clock, 1661, by Guillaume Nourrisson, replacing an earlier clock of 1383, in the Primatiale Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Lyon, or Cathedrale Saint-Jean, built 1175-1481 in Romanesque and Gothic styles, on the Place Saint-Jean in the Saint-Jean district, in Lyon, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France. An astrolabe on the clock shows positions of the sun, moon, earth and stars, and automated figures move on the central tower. The cathedral is listed as a historic monument and forms part of the Lyon UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
